Light of Hope, Dhading

Well, each of us has our own life style and the way we take the things that happen to us. I might feel pity on the people who come around me asking for a rupee but other might say "Hey, what a stupid". Yes, in this case both of us are correct. I can feel pity on him and other can ignore because they should have done something creative rather than begging on the street. But when the people wish or ask for the opportunities at that time I do not think that anyone has negative feelings instead if he can he helps, if not he just feels sorry for him.

So, here I come up with the idea that can fit both at the same basket. You can help the people and enjoy your holidays as well. You do not know that you are helping but they are getting a lot from you. Well, how can this be possible? I have the solution. Just go through this story.

Light Of Hope

Yes, the light of hope, a non government organization (NGO) that I have started with few of my colleges from my village. This was established with the hope that the poor people get the opportunity to learn something so that they can earn for their living. A poor child can go to the school and so called low cast people who are being dominated by the so called high cast people can find their way up to some instant. Hence, we collected some things that we had available to us. Some businessman around the village donated money, some donated clothes, food, stationery and many more. And those who did not have anything gave a great support for the collection and distribution of the things to the local people. In a short time we were able to fix up a sewing training centre for lower cast women, a few scholarships for the needy children and the computer training for those who have never seen them. It was an exciting event and we all were happy as all villagers were proud of us.

Things were going well, our service mattered a lot and many people changed their life style by a short training about three months. They were able to find a way forward, but on the other hand we hardly got funding anymore as our donors were limited. The condition became worse day by day but still we did not give up the hope. While working in the hotel I got a chance to talk with an American guy who has worked in a social organization, so I thought to talk to him hence I went there and asked for help.

He was very happy and even scolded me for being secret on that matter for a long time. He promised to help me. I never thought that the skill was within me to collect the fund, I was awaken when he said that as I have the information about tour and travel so I can start a eco-friendly travel company which can help me to collect a fund and provide jobs to the people as well; this was the happiest moment for me. He suggested ”well, Rajan you have the idea about tour and travel so you can start an agency and have some guides or porters from that village who really need money and you can develop your village as a hiking or trekking or village stay place for the tourists. I know many tourists will appreciate your work and they will take your service so the local people can get jobs in one or the other way. If the tourists are happy, they can donate a few dollars which will be enough to lighten the hope; if they do not, you already have many people engaged on him that means they are getting jobs. This will help you a lot, I wish for your best.”

Wow! What a nice suggestion. So then I worked with the papers my team and have decided that we will run a trekking company which can put smile on visitors as well as on the poor village people especially women who have no opportunity at all.

How we work

We have an office and staff to handle. There is no BOSS who has complete control. The person who works for the company will get the monthly salary and we keep the funds in the organization’s account. The profit that we have made will be deposited in the bank account and when we are in the need we use that money. The donations as well will be kept in the bank account under a different heading. At the end of the year we calculate the collected money that is collected through the different means. Out of all the visitors and the donors throughout the year, we put all the names in a basket and we pull out three names randomly. Those first three visitors will be awarded by the special token of love.

How other company works

They have the staff to work which will get a salary on commission basis. They have different commission agents working in airports or in the street trying to influence the guests to take the service provided by them. They have a manager who invests a lot and takes most of the profit. So the profit will only be for the BOSS. Tourists are also charged more as they have to pay even for their agents that have a long chain of the people that must be paid. Hence it becomes more expensive for the guest.

At last

This is the starting of our mission so we collect the idea and the suggestions of the people. By doing all these, the only thing we want to do is to make a better community with the opportunity to each child and women by changing a child at a time.
